Ok, it’s not that rifles like the AR-15 ALWAYS suck.
It’s just that most survivalists don’t think practically about the total spectrum of how to build a survival weapons arsenal when it comes to the real-world threats you’ll face in a post-disaster world.
Here’s what I mean…
Let’s say you and your family are forced to evacuate your home due to a disaster and need to bug-out to a secondary safe location.
Or maybe you need to venture out alone from home to get supplies after a disaster or power-grid failure.
Of course you NEVER want to go out unarmed because you could run into threats like…
- Suspicious military/LEO (if martial law)
But here’s the problem when it comes to HOW you arm yourself…
Nothing says, “Please take my weapon!” like a camo’d prepper walking down main street with an AR-15!
Whether you’re bugging out or you’re just trying to lay low during a crisis, your goal is to avoid drawing attention to yourself at all costs.
And since (especially) these initial stages of a crisis can be very violent, people are going to naturally be drawn to anything that looks like a weapon…
… whether to confiscate it for “law and order” or to simply take it by FORCE to use themselves!
In fact, I personally have a way that I carry a short-barrel rifle with me should I have to go out for supplies, but that’s another story.
The important thing is, too many “preppers” think that military-style rifles are the be all-end all of survival weapons and this kind of thinking will not only limit your ability to defend yourself in a crisis… it can also make you a target under certain conditions.
That’s not what you want.
What you really want is the right weapon for the right job… and that takes better planning my friend.
