We want to learn from you even as we help YOU learn.

And that’s why this message is so important.

Jeff Anderson just got back from one of our retreats, designed to help combat veterans with PTSD.

Our mission is to end veteran suicide, and we need YOUR help.

In this week’s podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival’s Jeff Anderson talks about the retreat, Operation Warrior Resolution, Operation Save Our Soldiers, and what you can do right now to help these soldiers suffering from PTSD.

Riot Survival Tips: 3 Ways To Establish Your Own “13 Hours” Escape Plan!

Kris Paronto Riot Survival Tips

Jeff AndersonIf you think the movie “13 Hours” doesn’t apply to you, think again…

Violent uprising or flash mob attacks like the Benghazi attacks can take place without any warning whatsoever (as many Americans have now learned).

In fact, we’ve seen violent protests turn multiple public events into bloodbaths in the last several months.

When extremists on both sides clash looking to get their street violence on, innocent people can easily be caught in the middle.

If you’re trapped, you most likely don’t have half a dozen badass operators coming to rescue you… so I caught up with my friend, Kris Paronto, and asked him for some of his best “riot survival tips” from his terrifying ordeal during the Benghazi attacks – and here’s a summary of a few things we talked about…

3 Riot Survival Tips To Establish Your Own “13 Hours” Escape Plan For Flash Mob Violence!

Kris Paronto Riot Survival Tips
Riot Survival Tips From Kris Paronto

Kris Paronto
Kris “Tanto” Paronto

What can you, as a civilian, do to establish a riot escape plan strategy ahead of time… and avoid getting trapped in the violence when it all goes to hell?

There are three things you need to be doing to establish an escape plan for wherever you find yourself that could be affected by flash mob violence.

1. Do Some Basic Recon

If you’re in an area or you’re going to an area that you’re unfamiliar with, study up a little bit.

I’m not saying that you’ve got to sit down and do a full map recognizance, like setting up little sand tables and army men like they do in Ranger school.

What I’m saying is that you shoudl get a feeling for what roads go in and out, where the alternative routes into and out of the area are, etc.

Nine times out of ten when there is going to be a mob protest, they’re coming from one direction, which leaves other routes out.

You just need to know all those various escape routes.

2. Pay Attention To Your Surroundings

The next thing you have to do is pay attention to what’s going on around you.

Most of the time, you can tell when things aren’t right.

People will move oddly.

Adrenaline starts pumping.

The pace of things picks up around you and people move more quickly.

When you get that feeling, don’t be a tough guy.

One against 50, I don’t care how bad ass you are, you’re going to lose.

That brings me to…

3. Just LEAVE!

I know that sounds like a no-brainer, but a lot of “sheepdogs” have a tendency to run toward danger instead of away from it.

Don’t try to be a tough guy.

There is no Batman.

Superman’s not coming for you.

You might be able to take two, or even three guys… but six? Twenty? Fifty?

No way.

Don’t make a big thing out of it… don’t make a production out of leaving…

If you run like your rear end’s on fire, you’ll start a panic and set off the mob, becoming a target.

If you are calm, cool, and collected, and you just ackowledge that it’s time to go, then you’ll get in your vehicle or get on your feet and get out of there.

Leaving means you’re not a target.

Paying attention, and knowing when and how to leave, is the least you need to know about establishing an escape plan for flash mob violence.

Survival Gear: Tiny Survival Gadget BEATS Much Larger Versions

Survival Stove Gear Review

With everyone worrying about disruptions in the food supply chain – as well as other problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – we’ve all been gearing up like crazy.

I’ve talked to people around the country who are focused on getting what they need to survive more than ever before.

(And no, the shortages aren’t over – I was in the grocery store just yesterday and everybody was complaining that the paper towels were gone again.)

One thing that almost every survivalist and prepper has in common is that he or she has a bug-out bag… and that means needing a stove to cook your survival rations.

There’s a good reason for that.

If you’ve ever been camping deep in the woods, or (especially) if you’ve ever been in the military, you already know how important a hot meal is.

Let me tell you… when you’re stressed out, wet, tired, cold, and miserable, a hot meal can really soothe the soul and give you the mental break you need to push on.

But, here’s the thing…

When it comes to a survival scenario – especially as the result of a nation-wide crisis like the pandemic, or even a grid-down blackout – you’ve heard me say that you need to look at your situation much like a “military mission”.

Your goal should be to lay low and stay hidden as much as possible so the “enemy” doesn’t locate you and target your supplies.

Unfortunately, starting a fire is a dead giveaway of your location.

Some people pack a “backpacker’s stove” that uses propane to heat up food and water.

As cool as these things are, they’re pretty damn expensive (as much as $30-40) and when you consider the fuel canister you need to pack, it’s pretty bulky and heavy.

As you know, I’m not a big fan of “bulky” or “heavy” when it comes to my survival gear.

That’s why I pack a tiny “survival-stove” in my bugout bag instead.

Mine is an older version of the newest pocket stove from Survival Frog.

Survival Stove Gear Review
Survival Stove Gear Review

It’s only about the size of your palm, but quickly folds open to allow you to set a pot on top of it, or cook your food directly over the long-burning “heat tabs” that fit inside.

And while it costs very little, it EASILY beats much more expensive, more elaborate “survival stoves.”

When it’s time to eat, you simply pull the stove out of your side pouch… light the candle… and in no time, you’ll have boiling water in your canteen cup.

Then all you need to do is drop in your survival food (like freeze-dried meals)… stir… and in just a few more minutes, you have a hot meal ready to give you a well-deserved break from your stress.

I can’t tell you how much of a difference this can make in your peace of mind and decision-making.

You wouldn’t think it does, but trust me… there’s a big difference.

I’ve tried several different stoves over the years and I’ve always found “simple” to work the best (and it’s also the cheapest option).

I highly recommend you pack one of these small “pocket stoves” into each bugout bag you have (yours and family members) as well as keeping one in each car with a meal packet just in case you break down in the middle of nowhere and need something to use for heat and cooking.

For a limited time, you can get a discount on these stoves from my favorite survival goods resource here…

Check it out and see how simple and efficient the latest version of this little gizmo is.

Sniper Training For Survivalists: Why Every Prepper Needs Long Range Shooting Training

Sniper Training For Survivalists: Why Every Prepper Needs Long Range Shooting Training

Question…

What do you think of when I say the word, “sniper”?

If you’re like most people, you get that mental image of a soldier covered in a camouflage “ghillie suit” ready to pull the trigger on an enemy combatant…

…A tactical SWAT marksman ready to end a hostage-taker’s stand-off…

…Or a clandestine spy positioned in a window, about to completely disrupt some country’s political system with a single bullet.

But while YOU may not be some state-sponsored covert assassin, have you ever thought about why you SHOULD consider becoming a “sniper”?

If that makes you scratch your head a little, then let me share with you…

5 Reasons Why Every Survivalist Needs “Sniper Training” To Be Prepared…

Sniper Training For Survivalists: Why Every Prepper Needs Long Range Shooting Training
Sniper Training For Survivalists: Why Every Prepper Needs Long Range Shooting Training

1. Intelligence Gathering

As they say, “knowledge is power”, right?

Well, sniper tactics are as much about doing reconnaissance to gain valuable intel on an “enemy” as they are about precision shooting.

A sniper can’t pull the trigger on just anything that comes into his crosshairs.

90% of the job is being able to detect, identify, and confirm targets, and developing these skills will make you far more aware during times when danger is around you and most people don’t even know it.

2. Survival Hunting

In any kind of “collapse”, food shortages will hit within the very first few days.

It’s a fact.

That means you’re going to have to find food for you and your family – and you’re only going to get 1 shot at that deer, rabbit, or squirrel that’s 300 ft away in that corn field.

You better make it count… or you’ll go hungry like the rest.

3. “Next Level” Marksmanship

At long ranges, every little mistake makes a BIG difference in how close your bullet hits to where you were aiming.
Sight picture… breathing… trigger squeeze… follow-through…

The training required to become “super-accurate” as a sniper can help you fine-tune ALL of your shooting skills – no matter whether it’s a shotgun, rifle, or even a pistol!

4. Stealth & Concealment

A sniper’s success doesn’t just rely on his (or her) accuracy.

You have to be “sneaky”.

You have to be able to creep into an optimal position without being detected… become “invisible” in any surroundings (even urban areas)… and be able to haul ass out of a “hot zone” without leaving a trail.

Hmmmm… sounds like just the kinda skills that could prove helpful for escape & evasion when the sh*t has hit the fan and the “wolves” of our society are prowling around for helpless victims to prey on, eh?

5. SHTF Defense

If worse ever DOES come to worse, you know that your family’s defense is going to entirely be up to YOU… and ONLY you!

Being able to hunker down in a safe location – and STAY safe – is going to require you to have someone standing watch 24/7 should some sneaky bastard start looking around for his (or their) next victims.

It’s always best to assume that the “enemy” is armed… and in ANY firefight confrontation, distance is your friend.

Being able to engage an enemy (foreign or domestic) from 500-800 yards away will help ensure your own survival… and force them to find their loot elsewhere (if they’re lucky enough to leave).

So hopefully this was all you needed to convince you that this type of training really IS useful for survival purposes.

So now, “what’s next?”, right?

How To Get Started As A “Survival Sniper”…

1. You’re gonna need a weapon. Sniper rifles can get pretty expensive and if you ever go to a gun show, you’ll see them all the way up to about $15,000 or so.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure my dog would have my side of the bed on a permanent basis if I ever dropped that much on a rifle.

The sneaky trick used at these gun shows is to make the rifle “look” like a badass military weapon with a lot of inexpensive add-ons. In other words, they’re selling the “look” so you feel like you’re the next American Sniper.

I recommend (and have) a Remington 700 .308 caliber bolt-action rifle.

These come super accurate and reliable right out of the box and I’ve used it for hunting as well as long-range shooting.

Another option is an AR platform in .308 because it’s a familiar “feel” and deployment as a standard AR-15.

(Note: More on your gun in a few seconds…)

2. Next, you’re gonna need a good scope. These can also run you a ton-o-dough, but it’s a very critical factor in sniping so the more can spend on it, the better… but don’t go overboard.

I recommend a “FIXED variable” scope for long-range shooting.

An “adjustable variable” scope is one where you can adjust the sight picture very tight, which actually changes the power of the scope.

This allows you to get a very fine-tuned sight picture at varying distances, if you want it to.

However, a “fixed variable” scope has a fixed magnification so the power of the sight picture doesn’t change.

That means you don’t have to mess around dialing in the precise magnification when you’re trying to engage multiple targets… and for defense and survival purposes, that can mean the difference between getting a shot – or not!

3. Finally, before you go attaching all kinds of whiz-bang gizmos to your rifle, you’re gonna want to get in some “super accuracy training”.

Don’t worry… there’s no need to shell out a few thousand dollars for some “tactical sniper school”.

One of the best training programs out there for dialing in “super accuracy” with a rifle is through “Project Appleseed” (www.AppleseedInfo.org).

This is a national non-profit “marksmanship heritage” group of volunteers using a standardized set of special skills for training youth and adults in how to achieve superior accuracy with a rifle – just like the American colonists who out-shot and defeated the British forces back in 1775.

I’ve attended their courses and put all my sons through it as well, and I can’t say enough about the professionalism of this group and all of the volunteer instructors who help keep this patriotic skillset alive and well.

And the best part? The training is free!

Of course they’re not going to give you actual “sniper training” because that’s not what they’re about, but it’ll lay a strong foundation for what you need to take things to the next level.

Then There’s Your Gun…

A buddy of mine is well-known in the firearms industry for showing patriotic survivalists how to easily build “underground guns”.

You can get his FREE DVD here for just the cost of shipping it to you.

Untraceable guns like this are often called “ghost guns” because they use a little-known “invisibility loophole” that doesn’t require them to be registered with the government like other firearms.

Trust me, this is important…

You see, if there ever was ANY kind of crisis that triggered civil unrest on a grand scale, it’s a very real threat that the government (federal or local) could impose a mandatory “gun confiscation” program to take peoples’ guns.

Yes, I know this might sound like paranoia, but it’s already happened during scenarios like Hurricane Katrina.

And I mean, just watch the news…

Personally, I think we’re scary close to seeing more and more violent protests in the near future as we become further divided as a nation!

Are you seeing it too?

And with more mass-shootings and more gun-hating politicians taking office, anyone who is serious about their 2nd Amendment rights should be VERY afraid of the possibility of a knock on the door by a uniformed soldier with a clipboard, asking you to hand over your guns for the “greater good of the community” during a violent crisis.

So why take the chance?

Get equipped… get trained… and get prepared while you can.

TACT Bivvy Survival Gear Review: 3 Ways This “Body Bag” Can Save Your Life!

TACT Bivvy Review

You may remember me raving about one of my absolute favorite survival gear items…

The TACT BIVVY has become an essential part of my emergency plan, whether it’s a natural disaster or a national crisis, I wouldn’t feel prepared without it.

I can’t stress enough how amazing this thing is and I have several of them – one for each family member in our bug-out bags, as well as a few for use while camping with my son.

These things can be a real life-saver for you or a family member no matter what survival scenario you may face. In fact…

Here Are 3 Ways The TACT BIVVY Can Save Your Life In A Crisis…

TACT Bivvy Review

1. Signals For Rescue

The TACT BIVVY has 2 sides to it: An orange side for signaling for help and a reflective side (for keeping you warm when inside the bag).

If you’re lost or injured in a remote area, both sides of the BIVVY can be used to signal to search aircraft.

But depending on the scenario, you may not want to be found…

2. Hides Your “Signature”

Sometimes you may NOT want to be found, right?

This may seem strange to you, but during times of crisis, you never know how you’ll be targeted and by whom.

One of our readers, Kevin Dowd, had a great suggestion in how to stay hidden…

Kevin said…

“If you turn an emergency blanket with the silver side towards your body, and cover your face, you can defeat most ‘flir’ <from aircraft> and thermal imaging devices <even some smartphones can find your heat signature>.”

The TACT BIVVY is perfect for staying covert when you don’t want to be found because the reflective part of the bag is already on the “inside” and it’s fully enclosed so it doesn’t “leak” your heat out like a regular emergency blanket does.

Plus, the outside is NOT reflective (like most blankets) and won’t give away your location by shimmering in the moonlight.

3. Lightens Your Load

In a forced-evacuation scenario, if you’re ever forced to get to safety on foot, you want your bug-out bag to weigh as little as possible.

A sleeping bag is a complete waste of space and can add an additional 5-7 lbs that will only keep you from reaching your destination.

I personally have a TACT BIVVY that fits right inside of my bug-out bag’s 8″ side tactical pouch, right next to the poncho I use as a shelter.

I use this every time when I go camping with my son and it keeps me warm all night long – even during colder weather.

Highly recommended!

The WORST Advice For Good Preppers & Survivalists

The Worst Advice For Good Preppers & Survivalists

Back in the “old days’ of the Internet, they used to tell you NEVER to use your real name for security purposes.

Back then, simple scams were everywhere.

But we’ve come a long way (mostly) since people were trusting enough to send money online to made-up Nigerian princes… right?

WRONG!

People may be a lot more “Internet savvy” when they use their phones or laptops these days…

…But in the survival/prepping community, a whole LOT Of them are still making a MAJOR mistake.

And that mistake, well… it’s the sort of thing that separates the real survivors from the ones who are just pretending – even if they don’t realize it!

Doing This Makes People “Fantasy Preppers”

The Worst Advice For Good Preppers & Survivalists
The Worst Advice For Good Preppers & Survivalists

See, I’m old enough to remember the early days of the Internet, when it was kind of a “Wild West” out there in terms of the information available.

You could find just about anything you wanted on Internet bulletin boards…

…and some of it was even true.

But while most of us have gotten a lot smarter about who we trust online, and who we give our information to…

…some of us are STILL falling for a new type of scam.

Instead of taking people’s money and not sending them anything, THESE scams are selling false security, giving people information that doesn’t work and that the seller doesn’t care about.

See, some people in the survival/prepping/self-defense communities are still taking advice from just anybody on the Internet.

They go on YouTube, look up a video, and believe what some tiny channel with no followers (and no clue) tells them.

They find a random post by “MallNinja12345” (I made that up) on Reddit, and they think it must be true because it sounds plausible.

Basically, they treat the Internet like a Ouja Board, asking just any old random person to give them advice on life-and-death matters of survival.

And that, Amigo, is the absolute WORST advice there is.

It treats survival like fantasy – and playing at being a prepper will get you hurt or killed when something real happens.

(You know, like a world-ending, economy-destroying pandemic?)

Now, I know you’re not going to stop looking at survival information on the Internet, and I wouldn’t want you to.

But if you’re going to be able to tell fact from fiction, if you want some clue as to whether a source should be trusted, you have to have a good background in multiple survival topics.

That means you have another problem:

HOW do you study “all of survival and self-defense” overnight?

Well, I found a deal that provides you with an “instant library” of solid survival and self-defense information.

With just one click, YOU can have this entire library at your disposal… which will help give you the background you need to make informed decisions about the “Internet survival info” you see.

You can learn more about everything contained in the instant library (and get access to them) here.

Just don’t put this off until later, okay?

These offers get taken down periodically, so you don’t want to miss out.

Watch your backs out there, and online… and don’t send any bitcoins or gift cards to imaginary royalty, okay?

😉

The smallest, lightest survival and SD tool there is. . .

3 Reasons To Carry A Scream Whistle

Three years ago I did a podcast on my top 5 EDC self-defense weapons.

One of those was a product that went out of stock from the manufacturer for a while.

Well, it’s finally back… and I realized when I went to buy a few more of them that it’s one of the smallest, lightest, and CHEAPEST self-defense and survival tools there is.

But you know what else?

It’s not really a WEAPON at all.

That means you can take it literally anywhere.

But that’s not the ONLY reason you should carry one…

3 Reasons To Carry A SCREAMER

3 Reasons To Carry A Scream Whistle
3 Reasons To Carry A Scream Whistle

The scream whistle from Survival Frog doesn’t look like much.

It’s a tiny little piece of plastic.

But I absolutely LOVE it, because it doesn’t take much air to make it work…

…and when you blow into it, it’s AMAZINGLY LOUD.

It’s so small that you can carry it with you every day… put one in your car… and even drop one into each of your survival kits.

You’ll forget it’s there, but when you need it, there’s a LOT it can do for you:

1. It Can Scare Off An Attacker

Now, we’ve all heard of a “rape whistle.”

Usually, the term is used like a punch line.

That’s because blowing on a whistle like you’d carry in gym class isn’t going to do much to scare off an attacker.

But the scream whistle is a little different.

It doesn’t sound like those old, cheesy rape whistles, or like something your football coach would hang around his neck.

It puts out a piercing wail that draws ATTENTION… and that is something a mugger, a rapist, and most other thugs absolutely don’t want.

They count on darkness and anonymity to do their crimes… so you blowing on one of these scream whistles is the LAST thing they want.

Which brings me to…

2. It Can Draw Attention Like Nothing Else

They say you shouldn’t shout for help if you’re being attacked in public, in a hotel, or some other place like that.

Instead, you’re supposed to shout “Fire! Fire!” because people who don’t want to get involved in a crime will come running if that’s what it takes to save their own skins.

(Pretty sad that we have to think like this, you know?)

Well, the scream whistle gets attention like nothing else… so even if you’re NOT being attacked, if you want to draw a crowd of people fast (as in, a crowd of witnesses), blowing on a scream whistle will do that.

The noise doesn’t just scare away the bad people, in other words; it also attracts crowds of OTHER people, which might be just what you need.

3. It Can Help You Get Rescued In An Accident

If you were in an accident – say, your car was in a ditch over an embankment, and you couldn’t get out on your own – you’d need to call for help.

But if you were hurt, you might not be able to shout very loud.

And if you were lost in the woods, trying to get somebody’s attention so they could come find you, shouting would only work for so long before your voice was blown out.

In a survival situation, a scream whistle can bring rescuers to you FAST.

It doesn’t take much air to create one HECK of a racket with these, either.

All you have to do is keep blowing on it to make so much noise that anyone nearby will hear you.

That means that this whistle can save your life even if you’re all alone.

Of course, like I said, the best thing about these powerful screamers is that they’re very inexpensive.

You can afford to buy several for all your loved ones, your survival kits, your pocket, your car… wherever you might want a little insurance.

You’ll forget they’re there until you need them… and if you ever do, you’ll be really grateful to have them.

Get yours here before they sell out again.

Defeat A Padlock: Quick Survival Tip (Fastest”Lock-Picking” Method EVER!)

A simple padlock shouldn’t stand between you and your escape to safety or the supplies you need to “acquire” in a survival scenario.

That’s why I’ve always said that lock-picking is a really cool “advanced” skill to master for when the sh*t hits the fan.

Defeating Padlocks: Tips For Picking Locks
How To Pick A Lock: Quick Tip For Defeating (Circumventing) Padlocks

But John from Atlanta, GA sent us a tip recently for urban escape and evasion.

It’s a method that you should always consider first…

“Your survival gear for your home and car should include a pair of bolt cutters.

This is a piece of equipment overlooked by many and when a padlock is in the way of your escape or some much-needed resupply, you need a way to break the lock – quickly and quietly – or you’re out of luck.

You may not want to alert the entire neighborhood that you’re banging away on a padlock with a crowbar or a brick, either.

A pair of bolt cutters solves all these problems.”

– Submitted by John, Atlanta, GA

Most of the time, “simple” is the best strategy, eh?

P.S. – By the way… after John’s advice, I went shopping for bolt cutters and found them to be REALLY expensive (like over $150).

But I picked up a set of heavy duty ones at a pawn shop for 20 bucks for my “bug-out mobile” and some 14 in. ones for 5 bucks for my go-bag.

Always think outside the box when it comes to escape and evasion!

Knife Beats Gun: 3 Reasons To Bring A Knife To A Gunfight

Jeff Anderson
Jeff Anderson, Editor

I’m sure you’ve probably heard the term, “never bring a knife to a gunfight, right?

I mean, who in their right mind would do something so stupid, knowing that there’s no way a knife could “out-power” a firearm – ANY firearm?!

Except there’s just one problem:

This just isn’t (always) true!

In fact, there are a LOT of reasons you might choose to (or be forced to) “bring a knife to a gun fight.”

I know… sounds nuts, right?

Well, hear me out, because I’m about to explain to you. . .

3 Reasons To Bring A KNIFE To A GUNFIGHT

Knife Beats Gun: 3 Reasons To Bring A Knife To A Gunfight

Ok, first of all, NO… I’m NOT saying that if I were to go toe-to-toe with a gun-wielding bad guy that I would pull out my combat folder knife instead of my Glock 9mm.

That would be stupid… IF I had the time, space, and option of using my gun instead of my knife.

But let’s face it…

If you’re honest with yourself, you’ll realize that only a FOOL assumes you’ll always have the time, space, and option to go for your gun.

For starters, there are places you can’t carry a gun, right?

In those cases, that’s no choice at all — it’s just you going with the best available weapon.

But let’s look a little closer, because there are (at least) 3 good reasons why you should carry a knife specifically for self-protection purposes – and may even be the “winner” in a real attack…

1. A Knife Takes Almost No Muscle

A knife “works” because the point or the cutting edge are very thin.

This means that all the muscle power behind that knife is concentrated on that very, very small area.

Think about it: If you put the palm of your hand on your buddy’s chest, it doesn’t hurt.

If you press your index finger into his chest, though, it hurts enough to annoy him.

Put the same amount of pressure behind an ice pick, and you’ll puncture his skin.

If your knife is sharp, it takes almost no muscle power at all for you to do damage with it.

That means even if you’re older, injured, much smaller than your attacker – or otherwise at a disadvantage – you can deal out a HELL OF A LOT OF FORCE at close-quarters.

That makes the knife a very real option, particularly for people who might have trouble racking the slide of a full-sized auto.

It also makes the knife a great one-handed backup if you’re injured, disarmed, or run out of ammo.

Speaking of which. . .

2. Your Knife Never Needs Ammo

I’ve fought in combat, and I can tell you that there’s one piece of gear that will always have a place in a soldier’s arsenal…

It’s a knife.

Why does a high-tech military with fighter jets, machine guns, and smart bombs issue a bayonet to its infantry troops?

Because the military knows that no matter how much ammo a soldier carries, he could run out.

When that happens, his only option is to fix his bayonet and use it as a pike to stab his enemies.

Well, no matter how much ammo you have for your gun, sooner or later, it’s going to run out.

If you’re out and about and carrying concealed, you’ve got a lot LESS ammo on you than you have stockpiled at home.

And the reality is, most people don’t carry extra ammo at ALL.

You’re going to run out of rounds FAST in your auto or that 5-shot snubby revolver you’re carrying. . .

. . . and that’s when your knife will HAVE to come into play for self-defense.

3. A Knife Is Devastating At Close Quarters (And Almost Can’t “Miss”)

Guns are extremely powerful.

They are, however, powerful only in a straight line.

In fact, every gun disarm relies on getting out of the way of that single straight line in front of the barrel.

That means that, even at close quarters, it’s possible to miss your target.

Adrenaline dump, tunnel vision, shock, and other physical effects of a gun fight turn your aim to garbage in a real gunfight.

But if you have a knife…

You can slash.

You can thrust.

You can put the sharp edge between you and your attacker and just push, cutting them open with pressure.

With a knife, you almost can’t miss.

That makes a sharp blade your best friend in the adrenaline dump of a fight.

Now, there are a lot of great knives on the market for fighting and self-defense, so…

Here’s What To Look For In A “Fighting Knife”…

Ask a million “blade experts” what knife you should carry for personal defense… and you’ll get a million suggestions, right?

Well, when it comes to FIGHTING with a knife, I have a few things I look for…

First, I won’t carry a knife that doesn’t have an ambidextrous design. Period.

Curved handles and blades limit your options for how you hold your weapon – and in a real attack, I like to have all the options I can get for fighting back.

With an ambidextrous design, it doesn’t matter how you hold it: left hand… right hand… point up… point down… no matter which way you grab it, it’s always ready for business!

It (of course) also has to be able to open lightning-fast!

I personally find “thumb studs” to be the best openers – especially if the knife is also “spring-assisted” so all it takes is a little nudge of your thumb to unleash the blade into instant action.

I also like as thin a design as possible so it’s easy to conceal, yes… but also so that it “stabs” more effectively – especially if facing an attacker who is heavily clothed (maybe even in a leather coat!

Your preferences may vary, but these are mine.

Anyway, I think you can see the value in WHY you need to carry a knife with you for personal defense… you just need to make sure it’s the right one in order to be ready for the reality of a violent attack.
