I have my trusty Guardian machete, and actually “used” the machete during a home-defense incident (that turned out to be a false alarm, so nobody got machete’d that day). Do you have non-gun options for home defense? What are your firearms options?

Home security system that includes audible alarm, monitoring service, and eight exterior cameras. Green laser handy. Hadn’t thought of my Guardian machete–it’s in my X-BOB.

With a child in my home all the firearms are locked in safes. I have practiced getting into the quick access safe next to my bed and can do it very quickly, but do keep a tactical pen and pepper gel on the nightstand on the off chance a home invader gets into my room before I can open the safe.

Alarm system, strategically placed garden tools. Lots of ‘sharps and shinies’ including the Guardian. I find spears to be particularly comforting.

I was given ThruNite BSS V4 flashlight for review several months back (ahhhhh… pays to be in the industry sometimes! 🙂 and this thing is super bright. I like having it by my bedside near my gun for target identification and the attack bezel for striking if needed. Other than that, my Guardian machetes are scattered around the house but if I’m outside of my bedroom or saferoom, I always have my pistol on me anyway.
