What scares you most about a real street fight?

The upcoming release of "Real Fights, Real Defense" got me thinking. What scares you most about a real street fight? For me, it's the thought I might freeze up when it counts.

When presented with imminent threats in the past my instincts and reflexes have tended to kick in and get me out of trouble even before my mind has completely grasped what is going on. I hope that trend will continue and keep me from freezing if I find myself in sudden conflict. My biggest fear is that my skills and physical abilities won’t be up to the challenge. Especially now that I am slowly grinding my way back to health from recent medical issues.

Another fear I have is that a bystander or late arriving LEO might mistake me as the aggressor instead of the victim in a self defense situation.

My biggest fear is being inadequate to defend my loved ones. A close second is being adequate to defeat the threat but having to face the legal consequences of my actions, and being exposed to someone judging the situation from their own perspective. The Kyle Rittenhouse trial reinforced that fear. He was guilty in the eyes of many before the trial.

Sorry… late to the response on this one… but totally agree that all of the Rittenhouse stuff was a huge wakeup call on both sides about the reality of legal self-protection under extreme duress. Lots to be taken away from everything from the attack itself, all the way up to the jury trial!

Given that de-escalation & walking away are not working, I'd say losing my life due to failure of my first round to count. I'm close to 70 years old and I'm not stupid enough to engage in a fist fight or other foolishness.

If you are worried about LEOs and it is safe to do so, put your weapon on the ground and stand on it,
