Growing up in New England I remember some of our biggest snow storms coming in the Spring. Though with the shorter and shorter winters the big Spring storms are probably going to be a rarer occurrence.
Unlike the NE with its more consistent year round precipitation, in many parts of the West winter snowpack is vital to keeping forests healthy and reservoirs full for all the farmers and city dwellers.
